Nibblefest Artist Interview: Tammy Gulat
Nibblefest Artist Interview: Tammy Gulat
Art by Tammy Gulat
How long have you been creating art (and/or) selling it online?
Wow! Like so many of us, I can’t remember a time without art in my life.
I love it and have tried my hand at many things, like wood carving,
quilting and other fiber arts, fused glass, and sculpture, but painting
is my true passion. In particular ACEO (art cards editions and
originals) and small format acrylic painting. In February 2012 I got up
the nerve to try selling some ACEO on eBay. I was terrified, wondering
if anyone would put up the $2.99 opening bid for one of my paintings.
Happily someone did!
How did you first hear about Nibblefest and when did you first start Nibblefesting?
I was fortunate early on, to meet a gal through eBay who was not only an
avid collector, but also a fantastic person in general. She was the one
that turned me on to Nibblefest. In July of 2012, I entered for the
first time, and came in second with my painting titled “Fairies Three”.

What do you enjoy about Nibblefest?
My favorite thing about Nibblefest is the number of people who view our
art. The first time my eBay counter went to 100, I was stunned! Whether
people bid or not, the exposure alone makes entering the contest a MUST.
Who are your Favorite artistic influences?
I have a handful of artistic influences. The biggest being my
artistically gifted father who taught me some simple truths about art
and life which live in my heart. To him I am forever grateful. Next is
the amazing Frida Kahlo for her honest art. She is a person I enjoy
painting almost as much as she did. I admire both Salvadore Dali and
Pablo Picasso for giving me the freedom to explore my head on canvas, no
holds barred. Last but not least, I owe a nod to the man who spent his
life painting the strange and odd on a grand scale, with bold color and
humor, the king of freak show banners, Fred G. Johnson.

Tell us something interesting about you that many people online don't already know.
What is your favorite Nibblefest ever sold?
My favorite Nibblefest ever was the “Doors” theme. I felt my painting
was just the right combination of ‘what the heck’ and cool.

What would be your Nibblefest dream theme?
I don’t have a dream theme. Trying to come up with a painting for a random theme is part of the challenge and is totally fun!
What do you do to drive traffic to your Nibblefest auction(s)?
My favorite thing to do is share my auction links in Facebook Groups. Sometimes I just post with my link, “It's time for Nibblefest! All nibbles are welcomed!” I hope it makes people chuckle and a little curious.

What are you working on right now? (Side projects? Wip?)
Today I have a cute half painted Patriotic ACEO longing to be finished on my table. It’s been sitting there since Friday. It was supposed to be listed on the Fourth of July, but the Fourth of July festivities got in the way! Thank goodness Patriotic cutie pies with their Boston terrier and an American Flag never go out of style!
Where can people find your work?
So, if you are interested in my brand of Art, the wacky and weird, or perhaps a little something adorable and Patriotic (if I ever get it finished), visit my Etsy shop TammyGulatArt , friend me on Facebook at Tammy Gulat Art , to see my rarely blogged on blog Tammy Gulat Art2o , and of course, feel free to nibble on ebay, where I am also known as speedyt123, but searching Gulat will get you all my current auction listings!
