~ "GIRAFFES" ~
Painting by Nibblefest artist, Vicky Knowles of Wibbley World |
Giraffes are fascinating creatures. With their immediately recognizable shape, they have long provided inspiration to the human imagination. Thanks to their strikingly elongated necks, they are the tallest mammals on earth. As herbivores, the giraffe's tall stature allows them to reach the tasty leaves of trees well out of the reach of most other animals in the ecologically challenging African Savanna environment in which they live. As animals of prey, they may sleep as little as 20 minutes a day (and typically only 5 minutes at a time) so as to remain alert for predators, while traveling socially in herds, taking advantage of the strength in numbers. In the wild, they may live to around 25 years.
Unfortunately, due to habitat loss, many species of Giraffe are becoming endangered.....

You're hooked for life on Africa
and you'll not be right again....."

Art by Nibblefest Contributor, Patience, of Art of Patience |
Owls have long been a part of human folklore, myth and legend. Often depicted with an air of mysteriousness in popular culture, probably due to their nocturnal nature, unique physiology and predatory ways, owls have always captivated the imagination. From prehistoric times to today, they continue to hold their place as prominent cultural symbols and icons....
